About Us
Since 2018, the Ryan Foundation has provided over
R60 million in funding to a wide variety of
institutions, projects and programs
Ryan Foundation
The Ryan Foundation was established in 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa by Gavan and Brendan Ryan in honour of their parents, Benjamin and Patricia Ryan. Inspired by their parents’ deep Catholic faith and lifelong commitment to education, the Foundation seeks to support initiatives that promote the dignity of the person through work and spiritual growth; and is especially committed to supporting works inspired by a Catholic ethos and dedicated to service, compassion, and the common good.
The Foundation’s principal areas of interest include job-directed training, social services, child-development, and values fostering, with particular emphasis on initiatives serving disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in South Africa.
The Ryan Foundation does not provide bursaries or funding directly to individuals, but rather to organisations and initiatives capable of creating broad and lasting benefit. It is not a fundraising entity but is completely self-funded.
“To fulfil our benevolent wishes constitutes the perfection of human nature.”
