Our Story

Inspired by their parent’s Catholic faith and lifelong commitment to education, brothers Gavan and Brendan Ryan established the Foundation in 2017 to support initiatives that promote the dignity of the person through work and spiritual growth.

Currently Funded Projects

Since 2018, the Ryan Foundation has been pleased to provide over R60 million in funding to a wide variety of institutions, projects and programs. We actively support the following organisations:

  • St Patrick's Social Projects - La Rochelle

    Empowering refugees with sewing and IT skills to become self-employed or find work.

  • Pinotage Youth Development Academy

    Equipping youth for careers in the wine and hospitality industry

  • Salesian Institute Youth Projects

    Job-directed training in solar panel mounting and installing for unemployed people

  • The Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Town

    Funding the seminary formation of young men studying for the priesthood

  • C-SALT

    Creating pathways for youth into employment through tailored mentorship and skills training.

LEGACY PROJECTS

The Ryan Foundation has also made a number of once-off donations to support building projects that align with the Foundation’s values. These buildings, and the people behind them, are part of the story and legacy of the Ryan Foundation
